Price: FREE for the app but need to have an account for the full version.
Use: Reading and comprehension.
Enjoyment: 3/4 - The student like the app because it had "really good information but the story was quite long."
Effectiveness: 4/4 - The app works well. The stories have pages you can easily flip through. You can also pause the story if needed when it is reading it to you aloud. Some of the stories were very long though.
Math Bubbles
Price: FREE
Use: Addition and multiplication games.
Enjoyment 4/4 - The app is engaging and interactive. The student like it because it was "hard and you had options to add or subtract. It was fun."
Effectiveness 3/4 - An ad popped up during his game and "it was a bit glitchy."
Math Paper Lite
Price: FREE for the lite version.
Use: Writing out math problems. It does NOT solve the problems for the student.
Enjoyment: 3/4 - The student thought this would be good for students who would do "better using electronics." I think it would be useful for a student with messy printing.
Effectiveness: 3/4 - The student liked it because it could help him "do more math." I think it is useful for messy or slow printers, or for practice, but it does not solve at all which I think could be a nice feature you could turn on.
Multiplication for Kids
Price: FREE for the lite version, $2.29 for upper levels.
Use: Multiplication and times table studying.
Enjoyment: 3/4 - This student thought the app was a bit young for her age and I agree. She did think younger students would enjoy it though.
Effectiveness: 4/4 - The app worked well except you had to beat each level to get to the next ones which was time consuming when you know the facts before it. The Grade 5 student thought the upper levels worked well and were useful. She could see the lower levels being useful for studying for younger students.
Motion: Math Wings
Price: FREE
Use: Math facts practice.
Enjoyment: 4/4 - The student thought "it was fun to do math in a game." She seemed engaged throughout.
Effectiveness: 4/4 - The student thought the app worked well because it "does what you tell it to do." I agree however it did play an ad to upgrade the app during the game.
Match-Up Math
Price: $2.99
Use: Multiplication games.
Enjoyment: 2/4 - The student did not like this app because it was "hard to navigate and frustrating." She did like however that it was at a "good level" for her. I think with more practice this app could be more enjoyable.
Effectiveness 4/4 - The student thought "the matching worked well." I think the game looked interactive and could be an engaging study tool.
Awesome Upstander!
Price: FREE
Use: Game about standing up against bullying.
Enjoyment: 2/4 - The student liked "that she got to collect people and do challenges." She did not like the "sound effects, like the burping sound effects."
Effectiveness: 2.5/4 - The student thought that it overall worked well but it often had a glitch and you were sent out of the app.
